Ivan Dolac

Ivan Dolac is a place on the south side of the island Hvar, the area of Hvar which is called 'Middle Beach'. Belongs to the municipality of Jelsa. Ivan Dolac is located 3 km from the village Zavala, and 5 km from the village of St. Nedjelja. The road to the west continues to the St.Nedilja, where the asphalt and the gravel road continues to the bay Dubovica, where they can still go to the town of Hvar, or through a tunnel Hvar-Stari Grad on the north side of the island.
Today, tourism is the main branch of Ivan Dolac, most tourists come from Europe. Ivan Dolac with its lovely beaches is increasingly developing as a significant tourist and picnic spot. Thanks to the greatest number of sunny days in Hvar and the steep slopes of the wine-growing south side of the island in this area is derived from grapes from which top quality wines are made.

All who visit Ivan Dolac are to be amazed with wealth of natural beauty that abounds in this area. Medvjeda cave is only 10 minutes drive with boat and the Grapceva cave is located near the village named Humac which would also be advisable to look primarily due to the original form of construction of rural houses and magnificent views of the majority of the neighboring islands. All those who like to see the cultural heritage, will be surprise with the rich cultural heritage of Ivan Dolac, primarily churches and fortresses from the time of the Greeks and Romans.

In Ivan Dolac there is a small supermarket and several restaurants, and everything else needed for an unforgettable holiday in true Mediterranean atmosphere can be found in the nearby town of Jelsa. Island Hvar can be reached by ferry from Split to Stari Grad or ferry from Drvenik to Sucuraj. To Ivan Dolac you can arrive by car from the port of Stari Grad or from Sucuraj through the village Pitve. In Pitve there is the tunnel through which you come to the southern side of the island where Ivan Dolac is located. Ivan Dolac sport: volleyball, football, fishing, spear-fishing, biking, hiking.
